About Natty Catty Bands
Natty Catty Bands was built from real shooting experience — not theory.
Trusted by shooters across the UK through eBay and direct orders.
I’m Phil Gaunt, and I’ve been shooting for a few years now. Like most people starting out, I went through the phase of thinking heavier bands meant better performance. After about 12 months of trial and error — and advice from more experienced shooters — I realised something important: heavier bands were actually hurting my accuracy.
A lot of what I was using at the time was better suited to larger ammo like 9.5mm steel, not the 8mm setups I was shooting. That mismatch made consistency harder and slowed my progress.
Switching to lighter, more efficient band and ammo setups completely changed everything.
⸻
How It Started
I began selling by using up the band material I’d already bought — material I’d learned was too heavy for my own setup, but still perfectly usable for shooters running heavier ammo.
That’s where Natty Catty Bands started — not as a business plan, but as a way to make use of what I had and help others at the same time.
⸻
My Setup
Everything I recommend is based on what I actually shoot and test.
I still regularly shoot different ammo sizes, including 8mm and 9.5mm, so I can understand what works best for different setups and customers.
My personal setup is built for consistency and control:
• Target Assassin frame
• 0.5 latex bands
• 18–12 taper
• 7mm steel ammo
• ~150mm active length
This setup gives a balance of speed, accuracy, and repeatability — which is what matters most in real shooting.
Why Lighter Bands Work
One of the biggest mistakes new shooters make is going too heavy.
Heavier bands might feel more powerful, but they often:
Can feel powerful because of the recoil, but recoil often means energy is being wasted instead of transferred efficiently in to the shot.
• Reduce control
• Increase fatigue
• Make consistent anchoring harder
Lighter, properly matched bands:
• Draw smoother
• Improve accuracy
• Allow better shot control
• Are easier to shoot consistently over time
It’s not about maximum power — it’s about usable performance.
Matching your bands to your ammo is key. A setup that’s too heavy for your ammo will never perform as well as a balanced one.

Built from Experience
Everything I make and sell is based on real-world use — not guesswork.
My focus is on:
• Matching bands to the right ammo
• Improving consistency and accuracy
• Helping shooters avoid common mistakes
From taper choice to material selection, it’s all designed with performance in mind.
Competition & Community Experience
I’ve been active within the slingshot community, including an 80-minute feature on the Sling Den YouTube channel where I discussed setups, shooting, and experience within the sport.
I’ve also taken part in competitions where I’ve picked up placements and first-place trophies.
That experience has reinforced what matters most — consistency, control, and setups that perform under pressure — not just on paper.

Why Natty Catty Bands Exists
As I got deeper into the hobby, it became clear there’s a gap in the slingshot world.
There isn’t really a central place where people can:
• Find reliable band setups
• Learn what actually works
• Get consistent, well-made gear
• Access clear, simple help guides
Natty Catty Bands is my step towards building that.
⸻
More Than Just Bands
This isn’t just about selling products.
It’s about:
• Helping people improve their shooting
• Sharing real knowledge from experience
• Promoting safe and responsible shooting
⸻
Looking Forward
Natty Catty Bands is growing into a hub for shooters — whether you’re just starting out or refining your setup.
More guides, setups, and resources will continue to be added — so keep checking back.
